CETEM, at the forefront of the sustainable and digital furniture industry

The Technological Centre of Furniture and Wood of Murcia Region (CETEM) is a business association and training center located in the south-east of Spain. Created due to an initiative of private companies from the furniture and woodworking sectors of the Region of Murcia and established in 1995 with the initial support of the regional government, the Spanish Ministry of Industry and the European Union. CETEM aims at transferring any kind of innovation to industries, mainly SMEs, actively contributing towards their socio-economic development through consultancy services, Research and Development activities, and the arrangement of training programs according to the industry needs.

Currently, CETEM represents around 100 companies, mainly SMEs of the furniture and wood sector, and is formed by more than 40 professionals working in different fields of expertise in relation with industry4.0 and circular economy transition, such as home automation, eco-materials and eco-design, electronics, etc. Thus, CETEM is actively working in research and innovation activities and the delivery of learned-centered VET programs focused on the furniture sector. CETEM is also leading ALLVIEW initiative, the first European dual vocational training network of centers of professional excellence in the furniture and woodworking sector, with more than 20 partners and presence in 8 countries.

Aligned with its principles, CETEM is participating in different projects in relation with public procurement (HAePPI or GPP-Furniture), and sustainable industry (FURN360, INSIGHT or AGROMAT). Due to its wide experience, CETEM participates in the training content definition and development, besides of creating the online e-training in GREENER project. Moreover, CETEM will implement this training with its SME´s members and its wide network of contacts.

CETEM is recognized as Technological Innovation Centre (CIT No 83) and as Technology Transfer Office (TTO No 165). CETEM is member of the European Federation on Forest and Wood Knowledge (INNOVAWOOD), the National Association of Technology Centers (FEDIT), besides of being involved in several experts Committees at National and Regional level on innovation, SMEs development, and technology transfer.
